In designing the outer space at Engerupgård the wish was for a more modern, refined space than the usual layout of a traditional farm built round a quadrangle. Patterned granite paving was laid in the courtyard; distinctive steps lead to the main house. Planted beds line three sides of the courtyard, with only the facade of the main house free of vegetation. This creates a calm, green framework without detriment to the architecture of the courtyard space.
