In 2003 the Danish Roads Directorate set in motion the building of a road bridge area at exit 5, Værebrovej from the Hillerød motorway north of Copenhagen. The construction aimed to expand the bridge’s capacity and to increase clearance. The Danish Roads Directorate was keen to execute this construction with special attention to its architectural and landscape qualities. The project involves long lines of very tall Swedish columnar aspen, which in a few years will provide a handsome roadside marker for the site.
