In the winning proposal for the rejuvenated Campus Bornholm, the new inner Campus Square links the existing academic rooms with the new buildings to make an integrated knowledge centre which serves the whole island. Stretches of parkland and river valley encircle the campus, with facilities that revitalise the green spaces to make an attractive recreational space for both the campus and the surrounding town. The old north-south railway route is an artery connecting the campus with the rest of the town and a striking ‘green corridor’. It is also the main axis through the campus and is underscored with flowering trees, which bestow a gentle aura of the countryside.
